A community-driven vision for Milwaukee’s food future
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Imagining Future Food Systems is an initiative that engaged over 400 community members across 12 neighborhoods to shape a local food system that promotes social, economic, and environmental well-being.
Through 20 listening sessions, we gathered insights on food justice, community assets, and actionable steps toward a more equitable and sustainable food system.


The purpose of this initiative is to establish a long-term vision for the local food system grounded in community voice
KEY OUTCOMES
400+ Participants
Reached over 400 community members across 12 different Milwaukee neighborhoods
20 Sessions
Engaged 19 local Milwaukee organizations, with 20 sessions held over an 8 month period
Diverse Participation
38% White, 36% Black, 12% Indigenous, 12% Asian, 28% Hispanic. Most were ages 25-74 , 70% female, and 31% SNAP recipients
